Tickets are supposed to be on sale for the Tahoe event, but they are not… Any info on this?

I feel the same when someone calls another person a “pig“ or a “dog.” There is no call for insulting animals. People can be assholes all on their own.
You can call him Trump.

I will mildly roll my eyes if you use a nickname like Drumpf or the Orange Mussolini or whatever.

But I will block you if you call him or the people around him something gross and ableist or fatphobic or transphobic.

I’m also here for glode or glid instead of glided, and strove instead of strived. We’ve lost many of our strong verbs and these days simply tack on an ‘-ed’ in the past tense (texted? Why not ‘toxt’?).

US English retains more of them: there is poetry in ‘dove’, as opposed to ‘dived’.
Scrempt is a tremendous word! I’m here for it
i am going to arrange my thoughts in clumps based on the categories the ADS made for word of the year nominees! first clump:

"The bulk of the plant-based ultra-processed calories instead came from what the authors describe as “industrialised packaged breads, pastries, buns, and cakes,” and “biscuits,” better known in the US as cookies"

consent manufacturing got deployed to harm public opinion re health@ plant-based food
You’re being lied to about “ultra-processed” foods
Coverage of the latest nutrition buzzword is overly broad, arbitrary, and wildly misleading. The problem goes deeper.

US Senate just passed NDAA 85-14 to allocate $895B for war. Reminder:
•End homelessness: $30B
•Insulin for diabetics: $40B
•Universal Pre-K: $60B
•Universal 4-yr-college: $70B
•SNAP for 40M Americans: $80B
•Cancel all medical debt: $140B

And we'd still have $475B left over

Got money for war but...

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a pres election. Put aside the convo of whether it’s good or bad for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control (2024)
