Hi! The @archive.org has many epic features like saving sites and viewing deleted pages, but it's also got some little useful functions like tracking edits, searching broadcasts and visualising topics in news items.

I visit all of them in this YouTube tutorial 👇 www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwuX...

Nothing to see here, just your average experience on Route 8 (thanks @juanjpg.bsky.social for the video!)
• Bus takes 16 minutes to go one block
• Riders give up halfway and just start walking
• 2 other buses manage to catch up in the meantime

Unless you die young and suddenly, you will experience disability.

It’s a natural part of life & aging… yet most people fear it.

They see it as a personal failure. Something to be avoided.

Almost everyone believes they’ll be the exception, because they’ve been conditioned to see us as “less than”
Sen. Tammy Duckworth just said on Colbert, "We should all live long enough to develop a disability," & the audience laughed uncomfortably.

I can tell you what they were thinking. It was "Not me. That would never happen to me."

& the underlying, unacknowlged premise was "b/c I'm better than that."

the kid looks fucking terrified, knows the university will probably punitively hold the diploma they've worked three or four years to get, and also knows people have been disappeared recently by fascists for doing way, way less. still says it! just an incredibly fucking brave person

Meta tried to hide that it trained its AI on pirated books.

One staff member wrote:

“If there is media coverage suggesting we have used a dataset we know to be pirated, such as LibGen, this may undermine our negotiating position with regulators on these issues”

Since it didn’t keep him from getting fired this week for hiring a woman he was having an affair with amid several other accusations of sexually inappropriate behavior toward women, ex-Seattle Police Chief Adrian Diaz was just wondering if he still has to try to do this whole “gay Latino man" thing.

love making friends with a fellow Weird Brain because you get to skip the first year of getting to know each other by trading it for an intense 3 day bootcamp where you just lay out all your quirks, then you just sit in comfortable silence punctuated by the random sounds that come out of your mouths
