The MA Senate voted 35-3 to combat the rise of politically motivated book bans. This bill creates clear standards, protects librarians and school employees, enables authors to challenge bans of their work, and establishes important data collection.

Here’s what we’ve got from last night:

1. There were several instances where order was called. We understand the frustration, but we’d challenge you to turn that frustration into action. Join any one of the volunteer committees in town.

Oops we missed article 14. This article has to do with a TIF or tax increment financing agreement between the darling development corporation and the town. This allows for taxes to be reduced allowing a business to build a customer base, before the full tax amount kicks in.

Ok-now on to 2nd chances… the first article is 17. The authorization to sell the former firefly golf course. Town meeting authorized the purchase of this property for $6.9M in the fall of last year, financing it against the operating budget

The plots being authorized for sale as part of article 17 are shown below: Plot 78 outlined in blue, Plots 100/101 in yellow. Plot 96 was only purchased as “portions” so it is cannot accurately be depicted here.

Moving on to the juicy property changes-the first is article 15. This article would allow the select board to sell the old town hall property. At this time we’re not aware of a buyer for this property.
Based on the draft 10/15 meeting minutes from the select board

Article 24 deals with the updates to our town bylaws. It includes provisions to hold homeowner associations accountable for maintenance of their assets.
November 6, 2025 at 1:13 PM
Articles 18-23 have to do with taking private roads with new developments under town control. It means the town will now be responsible for all actions on the road (plowing, maintenance, etc.).
November 6, 2025 at 12:44 PM
When it comes to property changes this meeting has a lot of them; articles 13, 15, 16, 18-24.
Article 13 is part of the process started by article 12 in the spring of 2024 (passed 108/37/0).
November 5, 2025 at 1:42 PM
With 3 more articles in this category we’ll tackle articles 4 and 5 next. These articles allocate funds to equip capital assets, but they uses different sources:
.

Articles 11-12 are next. These articles are typical now that PEG funding has to be allocated by town meeting. These funds are taken from fees for cable TV subscriptions so there are no tax implications.
November 5, 2025 at 12:22 PM
Next we’ve got articles 8-10. These articles allocate money to pay for union contracts. These contracts were finalized after the FY26 budget was final so we need to fund them for the rest of this year.
November 5, 2025 at 12:19 PM
When it comes to monetary allocations we’re talking about articles 3-5 and 7-12. We’ll start with the one that would have been “normal”; article 7.
Instead of taking the rest of the leftover money from the
November 5, 2025 at 12:18 PM
Let’s start with the normal stuff, articles 1, 2, and 6.
1. Article 1 occurs with every town meeting. We don’t know what reports will show up, but we’re hoping it’s quick with the number of articles we have to get through. 😬
November 5, 2025 at 12:17 PM
Sorry for the delay on the fall town meeting warrant, but there were more important things to attend to. It’s November 10th @ 7pm in the high school auditorium. That said-here’s what we’ve got for categories:

this weekend will be our last one open as a farm stand - beginning Monday we'll transition the space into a self serve food pantry for anyone who needs support right now!

drop off donations inside the stand - there will be bins labeled by category. come by and take what you need, anytime.

How do we know our costs are the same as others? It’s because our second non-profit-Doorways Food Pantry, posts it right in their donation forms. To get around this-one of our officers will be dropping off their personal donation to avoid those pesky banking fees.
