Here’s what we’ve got from last night:

Oops we missed article 14. This article has to do with a TIF or tax increment financing agreement between the darling development corporation and the town. This allows for taxes to be reduced allowing a business to build a customer base, before the full tax amount kicks in.

Ok-now on to 2nd chances… the first article is 17. The authorization to sell the former firefly golf course. Town meeting authorized the purchase of this property for $6.9M in the fall of last year, financing it against the operating budget

Moving on to the juicy property changes-the first is article 15. This article would allow the select board to sell the old town hall property. At this time we’re not aware of a buyer for this property.

Article 24 deals with the updates to our town bylaws. It includes provisions to hold homeowner associations accountable for maintenance of their assets.

These were all discussed by the select board at their October 29th meeting so no recommendations are present on the warrant. We’ll be looking for the updates to their recommendations at town meeting.

Articles 18-23 have to do with taking private roads with new developments under town control. It means the town will now be responsible for all actions on the road (plowing, maintenance, etc.).

Articles 11-12 are next. These articles are typical now that PEG funding has to be allocated by town meeting. These funds are taken from fees for cable TV subscriptions so there are no tax implications.

Next we’ve got articles 8-10. These articles allocate money to pay for union contracts. These contracts were finalized after the FY26 budget was final so we need to fund them for the rest of this year.

How do we know our costs are the same as others? It’s because our second non-profit-Doorways Food Pantry, posts it right in their donation forms. To get around this-one of our officers will be dropping off their personal donation to avoid those pesky banking fees.

Ok so the government shutdown… it appears that the impasse will impact SNAP benefits. We don’t know intimate details about the workings of the federal government, but we know there are people in our community who will be hurting if SNAP benefits stop; so what can we do:

Our first non-profit is Angels' Care Closet. Don’t let the “closet” part deceive you-they do a lot of different things. One of their main focuses for this time of year is a week’s worth of food for kids to have when they are on school break. Here are some things you can do to help:
