My new piece in GreySidewalk, lamenting Democratic capitulation on the shutdown. It leaves us on the left with little choice but to openly wage war on the party establishment to save any Democratic chances at midterm victories.
Senate Democrats have capitulated on the shutdown, wasting months of time and giving up the only fight they've engaged with in Trump's second term. The only chance for Democrats now is for Progressives to attack the party and win election as change insurgents.

A shit ton. I made a whole list of “centrist” and “moderate” corporate funded PAC’s that are attacking progressives instead of fascist candidates and how they organize and spend money to do it. It’s telling. Especially since they are democrats who supposedly want a “big umbrella” party.

Wilson up more after today's drop. Needs to gain 24 votes on Harrell in whatever is left to end any chance of a recount as well.

I just walked out of federal court where I pleaded NOT GUILTY to the charges against me.

I will continue to stand up to authoritarianism and call this out for what it is: a political prosecution.

Ok but this might be the funniest headline of the Zack Derangement Syndrome on the UK establishment right media.

The Spectator must have spent most of that article explaining to their readership that they're talking about a social media platform not a grandfather clock.
They're all literally obsessed.

The biggest upside to this is if it gets back to RFK Jr. that he was called that he may end up eating himself.

If the last major revelation on Trump's Epstein connections are anything to go back, expect to hear Trump insist he's never even visited another house before in his life in the next couple days.

And today it's the turn of The Times to try and patronise us all.

Every single day the right wing establishment tries to close ranks.

And every day we are growing.

Trump's healthcare plan just being UBI feels like full circle to 2020. Literally the only popular policy he's ever come up with is give people money.
Translation: he has no idea how insurance works

I'll get back to "party unity" as soon as the Senate Minority Leader tells us if he voted for the Democratic party nominee for mayor of his city.

I'm tired of party unity only ever running one way.

Katie Wilson above 50% now in Seattle Mayoral race. Looks certain turnout will cross over 55% of RV.

👇 If you are donating ANY money at all, cancel it. That’s the first step. Then you harass your state and county dem orgs and you call your senators and tell them your demands. And you don’t stop. You keep going even when they stay quiet and hope it ends.
It only requires 10 Democratic Party senators to force a vote for new leadership in the Democratic caucus. It only takes 24 votes (simple majority) to appoint a new Minority Leader.

Call your state's senators and tell them that nothing less will satisfy right now. Chuck Schumer has failed us.

Attacking Air Traffic Controllers feels like it must be some kind of epigentic Republican trauma response. Let's attack the most stressful federal positions after we stripped them of their pay for a month and forced them to take 2nd jobs just to survive.

I like the message, and he's absolutely right about channeling anger. But now the best place for him to channel that anger is to call for an end to Schumer's leadership. We need Democrats who want to be fighters like Murphy to be willing to fight the forces holding them back in the party too.
Chris Murphy nailed it after last night's vote: "There's no way to sugarcoat what happened tonight. And my fear is that Trump gets stronger, not weaker, because of this acquiescence. I'm angry - like you. But I choose to keep fighting."

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

The deal was terrible, now it's even more visibly awful that Republicans have already voted no on what will likely be the vote in December. But glad we gave up 40 days of fight and suffering for a vote they will lose.

Something I'm disappointed I didn't further discuss during the Chuck Schumer pile-on within: The capitulation may be one of the most embarrassing moments for a caucus leader. From a public perspective Schumer has presented himself either so cowardly he made a deal he didn't even vote for or... 1/2
