Scott Hill, Earthly Life is Not Pointless for Universalists - PhilPapers
Some philosophers and theologians argue that if God will save everyone, then earthly life is pointless. No matter how good earthly life is, heaven would be far better. So there is ...

Dear all,

Helen passed away at 13:21 local time. Helen would not have wanted us to be sad for a long time. All they wanted was to be remembered. They looked forward to being rid of pain and to being at rest. Helen took great comfort in you, their friends and readers.

I can't believe some people are happy that this man is our president. As the tattoo on his forehead clearly shows, he is a member of the MS-13 gang.

I made a 10-minute, richly illustrated summary of Margaret Cavendish's Blazing-World (1666), a very early (some say earliest) Science Fiction novel. Please have a look and share if you like it!

I thank Kurtis Hagen for his reply (2025). It is valuable for people with very different perspectives like us to candidly lay out our disagreements. While Hagen makes several points that merit engagement, I focus here on Hagen’s defense of Charles Pigden’s diagnosis of the Blair example and Hagen’s argument that I have not met Pigden’s (2007) challenge. ... .

Hagen says: Scott Hill … and Maarten Boudry and M. Giulia Napolitano … suggest that one reason to abandon the generalism/particularism distinction is that almost no one…

Today I taught Susan Haack’s paper on scientific integrity. In the paper, she discusses a way in which musicians can lack integrity. I said that the band Sugar Ray illustrates her point. The students didn’t know who Sugar Ray was. So I played the first 30 seconds or so of this. Laughter ensued.
