Still probably the best/most representative/beautiful/horrifying/emblematic piece of art to have been made so far in this our 21st century of the west. The retch of a dying soulless culture desperate to finish exhausting itself so it can start a new life unencumbered by the weight of history.

Yep. Agree as someone who's both edited and been edited. A good editor feels physical pain at the mistake you're about to make. Take them seriously and work to find a solution that makes both of you happy.
An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.
