Those winter fuel payment cuts are evidently having a disproportionate effect in Scotland. As everyone said they would at the time. How's voting Labour working out eh?

As Richard demonstrates, this isn't about immigrants or inefficiency, it's about Labour continuing Tory gross underfunding of the NHS. Westminster can afford to fund it properly: it chooses not to for entirely political reasons.

In an independent Scotland we can fix this.

Just finished watching the current series. Have some personal experience of their sovereign wealth fund. It's huge. Amongst other things it owns loads of the West End, has a JV with the Crown Estate and major shareholding in companies that own much of the remaining parts.

In 1970 the UK and Norway were roughly equal, almost no debt, and owned all their Public Services.

Now the UK owns nothing and has £3tn of debt.

While Norway still owns everything and has the equivilant per person of £10tn.

That's how privatisation 'works'.

It’s notable, but not exactly surprising, that so many* of the supposedly ‘sensible’ Brexiters have turned out to be mad, racist, hideous and/or stupid Farage fans. Montgomerie, a particularly pungent proof of this particular pudding, has been stealing a living for years.

*every single one of them
So, Tim Montgomerie, founder of Conservative Home, defects to Reform.
No shock to me; he bent steadily to the far right from the time I followed him until the time he blocked me for criticising Toby 'dick up your wife's arse' Young.
