I have to wonder if Cherée Buggs's utterly shitbrained ruling reversing the 31st St redesign is an attempt to screw with Mamdani in advance. The Queens Dem Party doesn't like him, Buggs must be part of that machine to even get to be a judge, & Mamdani is known for being for this type of redesign.
The 31st Street ruling killing the bike lane might be one of the dumbest ever, because it's not just an error of judgement, it's an error of geometry!

If this is accurate, Cheree Buggs (the judge) is a complete buffoon who just set a legal precedent that, if allowed to stand, would prevent the city from any safety redesign that annoys a handful of disgruntled suburbanites who drive to the businesses they inherited from their parents.
BREAKING: A Queens judge on Friday took the unprecedented step of ordering the city to rip up the partially installed protected bike lane on 31st Street in Astoria, defying years of legal precedent that empowers the DOT to redesign city streets as it sees fit. buff.ly/02lWfWs

The 114th precinct basically acknowledged that the 31st St businesses' lawsuit against the safety redesign of that street is causing a safety nightmare there for pedestrians.

Also, there's a very creative scam artist operating in Astoria.

NYC progressives who want to bring the NYPD to heel, it is our mission to constantly talk about Tisch like the corrupt little oligarchic princess and ICE collaborator that she is.

When talking to non-lefties, emphasize her corruption, which this article discusses.
If you're interested in the debate about whether Zohran Mamdani should keep Jessica Tisch as police commissioner — and in the future of policing in New York City — this @attackerman.bsky.social piece is very much worth a read.

A crazy number of people in NYC still seem to think bikers are the enemies of Pedestrians, despite the fact that WE are the ped advocates. FFS, we're the ones pushing daylighting which is easily the biggest Ped safety initiative and *drivers* are fighting it to preserve parking!

The 114th Precinct was in fine form last night, dodging questions about reckless drivers, calling a federal invasion “extremely hypothetical,” and also clarifying that they can’t arrest dogs:

Donate to firefighter Ben Chou for NYC council. He’s running against MAGA Vickie Paladino. New Yorkers deserve officials who want to fight fires, not political arsonists. If you live in Ben’s district, please vote in November. This is a winnable race.

This can't be right. I'm constantly told I'm very hysterical terms that it's bikes that are the danger to people on sidewalks and that cars are predictable...
Just this morning, on Bowery and Canal, two people (one on a bike, one on foot) were killed by a driver who lost control of their car and went up on the sidewalk. My wife was out for a run and saw the aftermath. www.nydailynews.com/2025/07/19/o...
