The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more.

I'm trying to save them.

You can find the deleted docs at cdcguidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

The story behind RFK Jr. in Samoa's measles crisis has never been reported. He wasn't there to spread misinformation about vaccines (though he did). He wanted to study a "natural experiment" of unvaccinated kids.

“I can’t imagine anything less ethical or more cruel.”

Experts saw Samoa's plunging vaccination rates as a crisis. RFK Jr. saw an opportunity.
New details show how Robert F. Kennedy Jr., then chair of an anti-vaccine group and now Trump’s pick for health secretary, sought to exploit a deadly vaccine accident.

Scientific advancements aside, this is economically irresponsible

Every $1 spent by NIH generates $2.46

For example, in 2023, $47B in NIH spending generated ~$93B

Halting NIH spending will LOSE the US a lot of money (and talent)

is it not in violation of guidelines to use bluesky screenshots to send hordes of people to harass individual users? is it not in violation to use screenshots of bluesky to be transphobic off platform? bc that's what's happening.
We do not currently take action on accounts that share Bluesky screenshots with commentary, unless that commentary violates our Guidelines. We will take action when someone's private information is shared without their consent, but only when it is personally identifiable and verifiable in-app.

anyway this statement is pretty blatant in its approval of singal’s tactics. which are also libsoftiktok’s tactics. they’re the tactics of a thousand-odd heinous trolls with followings and to allow this on the platform states exactly who they want to be here and that it’s open season.

this is the kind of policy decision you make when you're either unfamiliar with how harassment has worked online since 2014 or you want to encourage that harassment

Odessa, Texas has passed a law banning transgender people from using restrooms that don’t match sex assigned at birth.

Private citizens can enforce the law by snitching on people they think are trans and using the "wrong" bathroom and if they're right, the trans person has to pay the snitch 10K.

I like how the Anthropic CEO can write a screed about AI and write about how some things are too “inherently chaotic” to predict, like the 3body problem, but somehow thinks the linear algebra of ANNs replicates the chaotic molecular dynamics of brains & our molecular interface to the world.
