During a visit yesterday, we were shocked to see tour coaches parked on double yellow lines around this world-renowned Georgian square—some engines left running, spewing fumes.

Charlotte Square is a jewel of the Scottish Enlightenment. It deserves better.

The Berlin memorial of Otto & Elise Hampel, a working class couple who wrote postcards denouncing Hitler and the Nazis between 1940 and 1942. They were caught, tried, and beheaded in 1943. The memorial is by by Ingeborg Lockenmann, a replica of one of the Hampel’s postcards and was set up in 2020.
