Jimmy Carter's work with Habitat for Humanity started in East Village of Manhattan
The year was 1984 and the former president was already out of office and had volunteered to help restore the building which was Habitat for Humanity's first project in New York City.

1/3 In the mid-1980s I lived close to Morristown, New Jersey. My husband and I took a small group to work with Habitat for Humanity on the Lower East Side of New York. The building was in terrible shape and had already been partially gutted.

I don't know what the Senate is going to do. But if they do in fact fold in exchange for nothing, they will be living up to past performance. To expect the Senate to carry out the will of the American people is to misunderstand why it was created in the first place.

Unacceptable. There are 189,000 people in my district who will be paying 50–300% more for the same, and in many cases worse, healthcare.

67% said they'd show up at town halls or public events to express their anger.
