Mark Carney’s Liberals were not elected on a mandate to gut Canada Post, but they’re doing it anyway.

The minister intervened to begin the process, now management has now submitted a restructuring plan *in the middle of collective bargaining* that it refuses to share with Canadians.

I missed the detail that Mark Carney ditched the luxury tax on private jets, yachts, and vehicles over $100,000 in the budget, though I also can’t say I’m surprised.

I try very hard to like Toronto but there are many things about this city that confound me. one of them is that we are ON a fucking LAKE and there is so little access to the lake like you can still be in capitalism and have an amazing lake front with like shops and cafes and shit wtf are you doing

this is bad
Buried in the Doug Ford govt's fall budget are changes that would remove parts of Wasaga beach from provincial protection. As I reported in August, those parts are 60% of the world’s longest freshwater beach and the main nesting area for the endangered piping plover: thenarwhal.ca/wasaga-beach...

I wrote about this too. Why isn’t Ontario hitting the barricades in rage? We’ve so little lake access. Entirely privatized shorelines. You could give the province away to oligarchs & people would be meh. Thx to Fatima for calling this early on.

SEATTLE!!!

We’ve now taken the lead by 91 votes! 🤯 This thing is certainly not over! Over 1,000 ballots have been challenged, so if you haven’t tracked your ballot yet get on it! Our trusty volunteers have been working hard to "cure" ballots so they count! We're so close!

it’s still wild to me that diseases we effectively began controlling and eliminating during my childhood are coming back. how very very sad.
It's official: Canada has lost its measles elimination status because of an outbreak that has persisted for more than 12 months. Country can regain status only if on-going spread is of measles interrupted for more than a year. www.cbc.ca/news/health/... via @cbcnews.ca

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Sharing my first published article from my PhD research!

It draws from my ethnographic experiences at ‘future of work’ conferences and completing online courses on the subject, particularly how the discourses I observed shape a narrow vision of the ‘ideal worker.’
