Abolish ICE. Abolish Prisons.
“most importantly, its emotional punch grows, not diminishes, with rewatching over the years”

Caught the end of the movie today, couldn’t keep my eyes clear. Great essay too. Will always love this film.

Aside from the corporate bs, the Macy’s parade is such a lovely American thing. The showcasing of a multitude of stories, histories, and people through broadway performances, marching bands, artistic extravagance, stellar musicians. This is my patriotism

I really can't stress how important it is for progressive and leftists to contend for school, library, water, etc etc boards. Hyper local involvement in our communities where we can actually influence lives.

Today there was an attempted ICE raid in Bensonhurst & community members showed up. Even though NYPD collaborated with ICE by trying to disburse the crowd; community members stood their ground & ICE left without kidnapping a single person per the rapid response groups I'm on. We protect us!

I do sometimes feel resentment at the fact that so many of us have been beating the drum about US policing and fascism for decades to no avail.

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

Another major loss. Teen Vogue had such good politics reporting.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

Our military is being paid by an anonymous donor.

Our WH East Wing was demolished for a ballroom - paid for by donors.

These aren’t acts of benevolence or patriotism.

This is the oligarchy assuming control, insidiously becoming part of how we function.

Every American should reject it.

This is driving me crazy. The New York Times calling this madness an “anti-drug operation” is one of the worst forms of propaganda: accepting stated motivations of powerful people as the truth.

Again, every time this happens, we literally have no idea if the masked, plainclothes people are actual government agents, or private citizens acting in party-affiliated paramilitaries. The whole point of IDs & uniforms & no masks is that we know these things.

Withholding an endorsement for the Democratic nominee for mayor in your own city is bad enough, but then issuing a glowing press release praising the corrupt incumbent no one likes? All while doing fuckall to stand up to Trump?

I swear, he's got the political instincts of an Amish child.

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Hundreds of Alligator Alcatraz detainees drop off the grid after leaving site
As of the end of August, the whereabouts of two-thirds of more than 1,800 men detained at Alligator Alcatraz during the month of July could not be determined by the Miami Herald.

Removing information about slavery at Harper’s Ferry is like removing information about hydroelectric power at the Hoover Dam. “John Brown went to Harper’s Ferry because he was so infected by the woke mind virus that he had a pathological hatred of states rights.”
They’re just completely erasing history.

The far-right, Trump and his cabinet keep saying we’re being dramatic or “snowflakes” for calling the right what they are: Fascist Nazis. We call them Fascist Nazis because they’re doing EXACTLY what the Nazis were doing in Germany back in the 30s and 40s, now in present day America.
