The way I now interest young people, who may be accustomed to reading online only, in reading paper material is to tell them that unlike their text messages and web traffic their parents won’t know what they’re reading unless they really go looking. Which is one reason paper books get banned.
Conversely, we’ve found at school that the one sticky demographic which never read is ‘reading’ online and that can be enough to interest them in manga books, graphic novels and maybe even traditional books. I wonder if the way we view reading needs to change with the technology in common use.

Scammers often forge Big 5 publisher docs as part of their effort to get writers to part with $$. Here's how scammer Impact Press Media (dba multiple other names) tried to get one writer to pay $4000. (Name on the invoice is the real name of sales rep posing as agent "Alex Weiss") #WriterBeware

My husband is an artist who makes orreries (clockwork planetary models) out of metal and glass. When I was struggling to finish my novel, he made me a deal: if I finished the book, he'd make me an orrery based on the world of my novel.
It's freaking BEAUTIFUL.

This is very funny. I know people like to pretend their mixed breed cats are purebreds (every longhaired tabby is a “Maine Coon” or “Norwegian Forest cat”, etc) for reasons I will never understand, but it’s impossible that this cat was a Bengal because they were invented in the 1970s.
