One of the strangest aspects of aging that they don't warn you about is watching as history gets rewritten right in front of your face and people 20 years younger than you confidently tell you about something you lived through and get it completely wrong.

So annoyed by how people selling secondhand clothing online are using AI to generate images of the item being worn.

It's completely useless because it doesn't show anything accurately and in fact just makes me dubious that the item even exists.

RIP cosplayers who want to make The Mighty Nein version of the Bright Queen bc that headpiece is even less physically plausible than Loki's

I feel like that was designed purely out of malice to cosplayers 😅

I'm grateful we have access to vaccines but man, the COVID booster always makes me feel like my spine is trying to escape my body. Owwwww

It brings me joy to see kids cosplaying from LOTR

Because it's not Old Media to me but it is to them

Every time I'm packing and travelling to a con I have to remind myself I enjoy this

(I enjoy the con, just not the packing and travelling)

I finally got my swords finished and got photos with them! I love my adventure grandma so much and she's also comfy!

Wandering around H&M while waiting for my eyes to dilate for optometrist, and man everything is just absolute trash. Even a simple turtleneck, which I thought would be a safe basic, fits weird and the fabric is super thin.

whyyyy do I dislike sitting at a sewing machine so much
my attention span when hand sewing: infinite
my attention span at the machine: <10min

"Fun spooky" in the sun! I love how the light hits my organza sleeves in these shots.

Everything hand embroidered by me, based on 17th century Hungarian dress. This dress takes awhile to lace myself into, but I love it a whole lot.

Kimono outfit for dinner with a friend. Kimono made by me, haori and obi are vintage.

Sadly I think I will have to dress like a normal person for the Critical Role wedding show because the prospect of sitting in a movie theatre seat for 5 hours in a corset and bumroll doesn't sound like a good time

Canadians – If you have some time this long weekend, fill out this godawful government survey on AI, which itself seems to have been written by AI trained exclusively on buzzword-laden LinkedIn posts.

It's still warm enough for me to wear this dress and jacket I recently finished! I was inspired by the Korean jogakbo patchwork technique.

Mostly hand sewn, as I was on a family holiday and needed some relaxing hand sewing. 1000 flat-felled seams may not be relaxing to some, but it is to me 😅

Check out all the Mr Global national costumes! As with the women, many are underwhelming but this one is incredible!
Mr Laos. Just when you though this year was a bit quiet on the insanely huge, bedazzled, symbolic costumes along comes Mr Laos and blows everyone else out of the water. This is insane, but it's also *so* good.

No exceptions. If you use Gen A I in any capacity whatsoever, you suck.

Yes, the way you're using it too. You're not special.

"She probably doesn't mean me"

I do.
I've seen some vocally anti-AI people recently make an anti-AI post and be surprised there are still pro-AI people following them, and I can explain this;

most pro-AI people think they are somehow the exception. the way THEY are using it, SURELY you would take no issue!

well, we do. so fuck off.

1/ A longtime Wired editor just wrote a mush-brained essay about how he totally missed the political rot of Silicon Valley (& still doesn't get it).

But in the late 1990s, a Wired journalist warned of a toxic ideology bubbling up from tech. Paulina Borsook has largely been erased. Let's change that

Having gotten my vax today, let me reiterate that it DOES NOT prevent catching or spreading covid on its own.

The vax is one piece of Swiss cheese.

Risk assessment isn’t a “one and done”.

Mitigation works best in layers.

Vax AND mask AND stay the fuck home when sick.
