I just experienced my first-ever San Francisco tornado warning (while in a hotel on the 11th floor 😬).

I defend San Francisco from the judgments of my Iowa family all the time, but I gotta say....San Francisco weather radar suuuuuucks compared to the Midwest.

I've lost my desire to be a princess given how generally terrible it seems to be....but man, I would reconsider for that aquamarine kokoshnik tiara
First Look: Princess Sofia has made her debut in the Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara (www.thecourtjeweller.com/2017/03/the-...) at tonight's King's Dinner in Stockholm. More soon at TCJ!

Chris is a wonderful human - if you can provide any support to him and Esmé while they continue to go through this cancer battle, please do ❤️
My husband has been in the hospital for a low white blood cell count, zero neutrophils, and plenty of opportunistic infections with no end in sight. I’m raising money to help pay for my lodging, which I’m doing to be closer to the hospital. NO PRESSURE at all, but if you’d like: gofund.me/23f3543a

tfw your morning cup of coffee reminds you of RWA conferences 🥹

Based on what I actually consumed at conferences, I should have collected martini glasses. But mugs are easier to get home.

The newest Haruki Murakami book (THE CITY AND ITS UNCERTAIN WALLS) is on its way to me.

I love that Murakami is revisiting a world he created 40yrs ago. In an interview, he said he didn't have the skill to fully tell it then (which is crazy - I loved the first book).

The only Trump plan I've heard that may actually make eggs cheaper is banning vaccines.

We won't need eggs for vaccine production, and the dead don't eat eggs, so it's a real win-win!

I tripped and fell down my own stairs today and that still felt better than seeing this headline.
Trump choosing a Fox anchor to be Secretary of Defense is my first real "is this a dream?" moment since election day.

My yard's vibrant green feels low grade apocalyptic right now.

But since everything else feels high grade apocalyptic, I must admit that the extra sun has been kinda nice. It may be an ill omen, but I'll take it for now.
The weather has been weirdly warm in the eastern two-thirds of the United States as November gets started — more than 10 degrees above average across parts of over 20 states.
Why November has been so weirdly warm — and why that might continue
It’s been an unusual start to November, and the reason may surprise you.

I am a single-issue voter and that issue is Mountain Dew
I have now watched the RFK Jr. video and here is a list of some of the things he says he'll ban if Trump is elected:

Mountain Dew
Crest toothpaste
Children's Tylenol
Welch's Fruit Snacks
Grape juice
Vaseline
Children's sunscreen
Mayonnaise
Gatorade

Life in late stage capitalism - and especially a writing life - feels precarious. I lived through the feast of the self-publishing gold rush in the early 2010s, but things feel famine-y now. That's how gold rushes always pan out, though.
