She/Her
A couple years back I got this crazy idea that I wanted to write a book. Still working on it and really looking to find a community of writers to connect with. Apart from writing I enjoy a cup of tea, a good book, hiking, and gardening.
Don't forget today is Indie Bookstore day. Amazon is conveniently running a book sale on the same day 🙄.

If you can get out today and show your local indie book store some love.

Back to back amazing reads, how did I get so lucky.

Plantains and our Becoming by Melania Luisa Marte

And

We Deserve Monuments by Jas Hammonds

I cannot stop thinking about either one of these.

This might be one of my favorite books I've read this year. I stayed up all night listening to it.

A beautiful tale of love, loss, and friendship. I can't recommend it enough.

Friends, I’ve launched a Bindery page! It is completely FREE to join, and I’m excited to have a central place where all of my content across platforms can live. Plus, I will write weekly or bi-monthly posts about what I’ve been reading, watching, listening to, etc! jemilabereadin.binderybooks.com

I stayed up until 1 in the morning reading Blood Over Brighthaven by M.L.Wang. A magic system that is essentially coding with Python. If someone would have told me that I would have started this book much sooner.

I’m here at Pasadena City Hall, where hundreds of Pasadena high school students across multiple campuses self-organized a rally after a collective mass walkout and march against deportations.

Now chanting “From Palestine to Mexico, All the walls have got to go” 🇵🇸🇲🇽🔥

Ida Wells was born enslaved but refused to live in fear. She wielded the power of the press to expose America’s greatest terror—lynching. When the truth made her a target, she didn’t back down. She co-founded the NAACP, fought for Black women’s voting rights, and left a legacy of resistance!
