Absolutely I have included Rhi’s in my response to the NHS 10 year plan consultation
So many patients in hospital experience psychological distress it makes no sense to have psychologists rushing round trying to see everyone. What's needed is a less distressing, more healing environment, & colleagues with capacity to have those extra moments to offer generally compassionate care.

We get asked for input to hospital wards around 'staff wellbeing' & you can see the desperate need. But basics need to be in place- like regular breaks, somewhere to rest & get food/drink. Where there's a need for something more 'psychological' it needs to be made possible for people to attend.

The single most serious issue facing the NHS is the impact of staff exhaustion and burn out, the sense of moral injury. Restoring staffing levels & pay justice will do more for patient safety than league tables & top-down bullying.

Our Cancer Alliance Health Inequalities and Patient Experience team hosted an event with 58 cancer patients, carers and staff members on how the region can improve admin for patients and carers.
The event was captured in these great visual minutes and a survey will be out soon to reach 100 voices.
