Same for literary studies. Non-tenure-track lit studies scholars I know you're out there and publishing articles and books. And if you're tenure-track and know NTT authors, let me know about their work! I can reach out and confirm that they're cool with being listed.
Haven't received as many contributions as usual for this year's lists--could be many things, but one aspect is surely that our ability to get this in front of people is much diminished. If you know folks whose stuff should be on here, please suggest it! contingentmagazine.org/yearly-pub-l...
Publications by Non-Tenure-Track Historians
Since we began publishing in 2019, Contingent has published end-of-year lists of books and articles by non-tenure-track historians released in the past calendar year. To submit something for inclusion...

“The US government” does not in fact have the legal right to do this. The wording in the constitution is extremely clear on this question. It is our obligation to say that, each and every day.
Breaking news: The U.S. government will no longer recognize the citizenship of children born in the United States to immigrants who lack legal status, one of 10 immigration-related executive orders President-elect Donald Trump plans to sign Monday, an incoming administration official told reporters.
Trump executive order will attempt to end birthright citizenship
The incoming president plans to take at least 10 actions related to the border or immigration, including ramping up deportations and suspending refugee resettlement.

Everyone should get a library card if you don't already have one! It's more important than ever to support public libraries. This is an extension that tells you if the book you are looking up on Amazon or Goodreads is in your library (and if it is available).

Here's one reason: The expansion of audiobook sales has been GREAT for authors. It's opened up sales to a whole new class of people *who weren't reading us before.* Audio is now easily 30%+ of my income WITHOUT cutting into print/ebook sales. Let people read in every format. It's helping authors.
Hey, just a note: Saying people are “illiterate” if they listen to audiobooks sucks for a bunch of reasons.

You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

This is why I look askance at any, ANY, academic who tells me AI integration into our teaching is "inevitable" and we "must not be luddites" because clearly you have lost any capacity for critical thinking
The difference between crypto and AI is that the AI Industry is poised to get integrated into every facet of our public infrastructure: security, defence, healthcare, education, social services.

This is no longer a bubble. It’s a political project to integrate compliance systems into our societies
having spent the past few days in silicon valley in various gatherings with our AI overlords, governments, & scholars at the forefront of everything AI, I seriously wonder if the AI industry has become too big to fail
