I was on the receiving end of a no-fault eviction this summer in St. John's. It was one of the single most stressful things that has ever happened to me. Renters in this province need more protection. If you follow your lease terms, you shouldn't suddenly find yourself without a place to call home.
📢 Renters in Newfoundland deserve better!
🏠 Rent controls to protect tenants.
🏠 Public housing to meet demand.
🏠 No-fault eviction ban to safeguard renters.
Sign the petition and demand bold action on housing! 💪 bit.ly/RentControlNL

My aunt knit me a sweater for Christmas last year and it's one of few handmade things I've received that were made *for me* and I just want to say I feel so happy when I wear it!!!

It's criminal that we undervalue women's labour contributions because they so often are the ones giving handmade gifts

If you watch something today please take time to watch my thoughts on the crisis facing Canadian democracy.
We are in deeply uncertain times and parliament is failing to step up beyond dumbed down partisanship.
Democracy is not meeting the crisis of the time.

Just had the best morning with our @foodfirstnl.ca crew doing our annual debrief and brainstorm about the Western NL Food Hub. So proud of that project. If you live anywhere between Gros Morne and Stephenville you should 100% check this out. (1/7)

I received the greatest piece of advice/insight a few weeks ago and I've been telling anyone who'll listen.

"you can't be smart and angry at the same time."

WE GOT IT DONE!

If you're reading this in the morning.

It's 11:23pm & we just secured a GST Tax Break!

For 2 months there’ll be no GST/HST on kid's clothes, diapers & other essentials.

Poilievre tried to block it — we defeated him.

For the record an NDP govt would make this a permanent tax cut

Bootlicking for Billionaires.

When Conservatives scoff at working class Canadians – saying they’ll vote against a GST Tax Holiday.
,
Don't forget - they're the same ones who voted to slash corporate taxes for multi-billion-dollar corporations by 7% — costing Canadians $60 billion dollars.

Did you know that I've reached a point of feeling embarrassed about clogging your feeds with 208 reminders? Especially over here where people are so happy. But yeah. A true picture of feeling embarrassed about not being better after all these years but still needing mental healthcare.

The next few years are going to be tough, but just remember what Anne Herbert said:

"Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries."

The best time to join your local library is right now - if you have not already done so!

the independent does such incredible work. if you can, please consider supporting their latest project: a documentary about preventable fishing fatalities in NL.
Leila Beaudoin and the Indy are making a documentary film about why the number of deaths in NL's commercial fisheries isn't declining even though most are preventable.

We need to raise $5K by Dec. 15. Will you help us?

just wait until the singalong version drops in like two months
If you go to a Wicked showing and start singing they should be allowed to beat you with popcorn bags. Them babies came to hear Ariana Grande and Cynthia Eviro, not Pam from the community theater troupe. GROW UP.

November 17 is the UN's World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims¹. The vast majority of the 1.19M killed annually by cars & roads are pedestrians, cyclists & motorcyclists.

A short history of ghost bikes is here: bikeedmonton.ca/ghost-bikes

¹A name only the UN could love.
