Minister of Seniors Craig Pardy has announced an increase in vision care benefits for clients in receipt of long-term care and community support services. The increase, which came into effect on January 1, 2026, includes $100 for eye examinations, $290 for single vision eyeglasses, and $350 for bifocals. A vehicle deemed unfit for the road was seized by police on Wednesday afternoon just outside of Clarenville. The 47-year-old operator of the vehicle was unable to provide insurance and registration documents, and further investigation revealed that the vehicle did not have proper insurance. The vehicle was seized and impounded, and police issued a ticket for operating a vehicle without insurance.
