Every few years Jesse Ventura pops up, makes a statement that is pretty admirable (not necessarily perfect but nonetheless basically rooted in strong humanistic principles and good sense) and people are shocked. Jesse is good

I’m a librarian. Traditional news outlets are deeply integrated into library infrastructure. Essentially, libraries buy packages from news vendors that become accessible to patrons. Nothing like this exists for new media. I’m not sure how to change this but I would really like to
As a purveyor of one of those outlets, absolutely. I think ultimately we are gonna need public resources devoted to supporting new media ecosystems.

Partisanship for an app like this is odd. I have but this short, miserable life. I would like the place I waste my time at to be marginally less racist than the other place I would have to go.

Relatedly: Jewish ethnic identity was not invented by Zionism. Zionism was (in some part) invented to preserve a Jewish ethnic identity which had hitherto been preserved by religion.
Religion is often an ethnic marker, ethnic identities are often shaped by religion, and religious life can over the course of generations cause followers to cohere as peoples. Also, there is absolutely nothing Jewish identity could possibly be that would justify the colonization of Palestine.

The debates about Jewish identity among all political sectors are deeply annoying to me. It’s not that Judaism elides categorization, it’s that the categories of “ethnicity” and “religion” are not well defined. More importantly, these questions are totally irrelevant to the morality of Zionism.

If what most American liberal Zionists say is true (they believe in the existence of two states living side by side), then they are more aligned with Hamas than with the Israeli government (or, indeed, the vast majority of Israeli Jews)
