Avian flu is a conservation and public health crisis.

18,000 dead baby elephant seals. Terns having seizures on beaches. Outbreaks among livestock. Human deaths.

Draining research funds and gagging the CDC is dangerous for the whole planet. So are proposed mask bans. We need those n95s.

It's like 'dead birds flying': How bird flu is spreading in the wild
That's the way one scientist puts it — referring to how infected wild birds survive long enough to spread it to birds and mammals around the world. And that's a serious risk for human health.

The folks obsessively posting about egg prices for the past few years have gone strangely quiet just as egg prices hit an all-time high.

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH**

Nice overview here about how public health could be dismantled.

Any significant influence of RFK Jr. in Trump’s orbit would represent a recklessness never before seen in America’s public health history.

A journalist today asked me how I felt about the health shenanigans that's going on in the US post-election.

My honest answer: I'm glad I live in Australia right now. Also, you don't notice the benefits of public health until they're gone.
