New people are still a big thing for Rüzgar 🐾
She watches, thinks, then gathers the courage to stay.
For a shy dog, that’s a very brave moment 🤍

"It is the first time anywhere in the world that an insect species receives this kind of legal status."

#bees
For the first time in global legal history, a country has recognized the legal rights of insects, and it is the stingless bees of the Peruvian Amazon that are taking the first step toward a new model ...
Peru just made history: stingless bees in the Amazon now have legal rights, letting communities sue to defend hives and habitat.

Proud to have cast my vote for Daniel Carlino for Ward 3 in Missoula City Council!

This is probably the most important race in the city, as it is between someone actually on the left (Carlino) and a landlord/house-flipper masquerading as a progressive so she can protect her landlord money (Savage)

Fun fact: We passed a bill in Montana that makes this kind of attack ad illegal.

HB 513 is a bill that gives individuals the rights to their likeness and allows you to sue anyone who creates digital fabrications of your likeness.
This is an actual campaign ad by Andrew Cuomo.

It features an AI generated pregnant and feminized "bill."

I don’t know how many times I’ve watched this video.

I don’t know how we’ve gotten to the point where men in full balaclavas can abduct daycare teachers while they’re watching children.

But I do know that this isn’t sustainable. Abolish ICE. There is no way to reform this.

This Trans Day of Remembrance, my heart hurts thinking of all the people we couldn't carry through to the other side of this moment in history.

Amidst all the fighting we've done for our community, amidst the unshakeable belief that we will win in the end, grief still takes hold.

I'm proud to join 280 state lawmakers in urging congress not to pass any AI preemption laws.

As AI content become easier to create & spread, states will play an important role in curtailing the dangers. And we neither need nor want the federal government getting in the way of novel policy solutions

Update: I won, and @erininthemorning.com was so incredulous that she had to double and triple check my math 😤

In all seriousness though, Thanksgiving means nonstop board games & card games for my family. And Harmonies was such a delightful, yet complex game. We'll definitely be playing it more.
A little morning board gaming with the wife and kid on Thanksgiving :)

This morning it’s Harmonies, what a cute game.

My wife hyperfixating on the subject of my grad school work is the greatest christmas present ever. We just had like a 4 hour discussion on transhumanism, semiotics, symbiosis, art, and more.

I love my wife so much. Also, god this conversation made me miss academia so much (damn you, politics!) 😅
Next I’m going for a change of phase and aiming for nonfiction. I’m diving into transhumanism books, from lots of different perspectives. There is a lot going on in the world with tech, AI, ethical questions, and I want to grasp things better.

Starting with Life 3.0 as my first.

One of the most incredible shots I've ever gotten, in Yellowstone. This coyote walked over a ridge in the blowing snow and posed for me, with a small grin on its face, the snowfalkes like stars in the background.

The desolation and beauty of life and nature is grounding, and so good for the soul.

"And I never say no"

We need to have a serious talk about the way "AI companion" apps not only prey on the vulnerable, but are priming their users to ignore consent and to conflate love with control.

We need AI regulations across so many sectors, but this area is particularly horrifying.
