I made the thread emoji happen 🧵 🪡 -- that might be my proudest accomplishment. I think this is where I'm following all the amazing textile artists and sewists I first found on instagram.
Somebody on here tried to tell me it's fine and normal for AGs from nearly half the states in the union to tell Costco that their DEI policies are wrong, without saying what's wrong with them. And it's fine for newsrooms to keep reporting this as a controversy with two sides.

The combination of increasingly zealous autocorrect and posts you cannot edit is quite tiresome.

This whole article manages to say nothing about actual DEI policies. What policies? How can you read that whole letter from 19 AGs, write a whole article about it, and never point out that the letter doesn't say what Costco is actually dying that is wrong?

In our “Ask a security trainer” column, someone wonders if we use a password for our password manager.

Yes, and we also have backups for our authentication methods. Read all about it in our digital security team’s advice column.
Ask a security trainer: What about the password for my password manager?
Definitely use a strong password on your password manager. But it’s also a good move to have backup plans

If you live in El Dorado County you know to sign up for RAVE alerts. 20,000 people live in South Lake Tahoe. They were expecting 200,000 for 4th of July weekend. I keep thinking about that disconnect as news about Kerr County's failure to notify residents trickles out.

It doesn't matter if they are ever coming for you.

It was always ever already too much that they were coming for anyone.

Yesterday, when I said I wasn't sure if my bubble is extremely small or Mamdani was actually poised to win, the whole of my research consisted of idly scrolling BlueSky and Mastodon. With a dash of input from my HS group chat. I feel like Cuomo should be harder to stun on this stuff.
Zohran Mamdani stunned former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who conceded the New York City mayoral primary race to the 33-year-old state lawmaker. trib.al/KfNebEQ

Honestly, it's bad for democracy that you have to have a hack or a paid subscription to read essential reporting like this. I could go through my library for WaPo but I have to look up the path to that and have my library card handy.

I've definitely stopped tracking NYC politics in any meaningful way. From where I sit (specifically my garage I. CA where I'm avoiding a project) it seems like everyone is all in on Lander / Mamdani. I assume that's just my bubble but I'm very curious to know how accurate it turns out to be.

Journalists carry a good deal of confidential information, including reporting materials and information about sources. It’s therefore important to prepare devices in advance before traveling.

Our security team put together a checklist to help.

US border searches of electronic devices put journalists’ work at risk. But there’s a lot you can do to be prepared

There are no red states. There is only gerrymandering.
My home of Missoula just voted to establish the pride flag as an official government flag of the city, thereby circumventing the state's asinine pride flag ban. 🏳️‍🌈

Missoula is once again showing how to fight back against policies that seek to erase the LGBTQ community.

Love @propublica.org's banner truck rolling around DC advertising to laid off workers. Kind of think they should start giving out thumb drives, too, to folks who are still inside the administration. #logansymposium2025
