1. We are seeing a massive amount of overcompliance with Trump EOs. Nonprofits across the board are erasing transgender people from their websites.

Mira Lazine reports on several that have made the decision to do so in her latest piece.

This + so many universities early compliance is freaking me out big time.
1. On Friday Night, it became apparent that historic LGBTQ+ clinic Whitman-Walker in DC had erased trans care and resources from it's website.

The stated reason is harmful to us all.

I make my case against it, and other orgs, erasing us for federal dollars.

On Friday night, it became widely known that several links to gender affirming care and transgender resources disappeared from Whitman-Walker's website. Their stated reason is harmful to us all.

Banned/challenged books are often difficult reads with jarring content, but we can't shield ourselves nor our children from the realities of the world forever - it's better to build empathy and understanding through books, especially by reading books by/about marginalized people.

If I had a band or a label, I would do a punk cover of "No More Kings" from Schoolhouse Rock. And then I would gather a bunch of people to write a whole album of next-generation Schoolhouse Rock songs, with songs about Social Security and Medicaid and NOAA. I am not kidding in the least.

I keep thinking about how before I got my current job I worked at a title I school where there was an incredibly understaffed special education program. In the program was a student whose behavior would regularly cause us to go on a soft lock down in our classrooms

Do y’all think the White House is about to be full of unvaccinated people who are going to get each other sick OR do they all secretly get vaccinated?

I’m working on focusing on the things I can control. So, I taught my students how to make zines. Who knows, maybe they’ll need to spread the word about something one day. Many of them chose to write about their opinions related to book banning.

I think I’m going to take some time to look through my pedagogy books today while my students work.
Maybe I’ll post some highlights. For the teachers here, what are some of your favorite books about teaching? #teachersky #academicsky
