Every time I come to Utah, one of the first culture shocks I experience is all the ads for physical enhancement and plastic surgery. I wonder if Utahns realize how abnormal this is.

I’m thinking a lot about institutions vs humanities. We have a primary narrative of history and existence thanks to institutions. But there’s another story of human life told through art, literature - the story of the little guy - that’s highly inconvenient to the primary narrative.

Loving season 4 of the Bear. The seasons of this show are like albums; each episode is like a song. Tempos vary; some eps are mood pieces and some have lots of things happening. Feelings are foregrounded over story. I love it so much, and this season so far (I’m half through) has a great balance.

Israel is doing genocide. It’s the biggest issue in the world right now, even with some strong contenders. I am anti-Genocide and I believe that Palestinians should be free from the oppression happening to them on their own lands.

i am 100% of the belief that simply forcing take-writers to answer the question "who specifically said this and why are they significant" would result in substantially fewer bad takes circulating in the world
if i ever teach a class on argumentative writing i am going to use these paragraphs as an example of how to NOT write persuasively for an audience.

Trump reversing his grant freeze should remind us why we shouldn’t get so caught up in reacting to what he does - this is something I remember from his first term. He causes all this stir to keep the media distracted while he gets up to shadier shit that goes under the radar.
