For far too long our leaders have ignored our housing crisis. We must confront it NOW. I strongly believe that we need to create more housing for families at all income levels, and zoning reform is a key strategy to do so.

Despite finishing in the top four 10 of 15 years, I’ve never won the championship in my fantasy league. Last night finished in an exact tie, and lost the tiebreaker. One yard away from ending the pain. I think I need to retire.

This new paper analyses the effects of upzoning in Auckland by first specifying and second estimating an urban economic model.
The results imply upzoning led to:
- a 24% increase in floorspace; and
- a 15 to 27% fall in house prices.
