Hot take: Star Trek needs more of the energy of Discovery S1 and DS9—outcasts and the traumatized upholding Federation ideals better than the system itself—and less of Picard S3’s nostalgia, where Federation war crimes are ignored to fight “the youths” and throw a Federation Day party.
