Many who come burn out after about a year: not whatever they expected. We came for 7 weeks in 2021, staying in 7 different B&Bs in 7 different areas. That let us try out the beach, the mountains, the Caribbean vs. Pacific, etc. tl;dr the beach was too hot for us, so we're in the mountains.

Indeed! We moved more for financial reasons - our kid was moving out and we could buy a house here for less than what we'd make on our big suburban home in Sacramento. No more mortgage. We're fortunate that we can both work remotely, too. Definitely visit - Tamarindo, Uvita, Puerto Viejo del Limon.
