There's really no justification for this other than spite (at COVID research, for making Trump look bad during his first time), eugenics, or greed arising from the first two.
Wow. On top of shutting down the federal Long Covid office, Trump and RFK Jr have also canceled funding of at least 45 studies that were trying to figure out what causes the debilitating illness, the first step to finding treatment or a cure.

Something I haven't seen much discussed in the media

How does China interpret the Trump / Vance / Zelenskyy exchange?

If resisting Russia over Ukraine is too risky for the US administration, what does that mean for Taiwan? Does it look like an opportunity for China, does it change their timelines?

Friday evening drop: NIH announces, effective immediately and including for already-issued grants, a new indirect cost rate of 15% across all grants. There will be much to adjust to at medical research universities, if this sticks.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

The increase in California's grid demand in 2024 v 2023, despite the 1.5 GW growth in behind-the-meter PV, proves that the premise behind CA's net-metering law change to reduce BTM PV incentives (that BTM would decrease grid demand so fixed costs are spread over fewer kWh) is entirely false!
Hello everyone, California's fossil gas use for electricity dropped an entire 25% in one year due to the growth of renewables and batteries.

Dispels the myth that more renewables means more gas use.

Gas is totally unnecessary and will be eliminated.
