Neil deGrass Tyson: "How sad it must be believing that scientists, historians, scholars, economists, journalists devoted their entire lives to deceiving you, but a reality-TV star proven in court to be a lying felon is your beacon of truth & honesty"

right!?
The Supreme Court approved this today.
Gosh. If only there were an historical analogue we could study to learn about the horrors of rounding people up without due process and sending them to torture camps in other countries.

I wrote a college thesis on this topic… still so many people do not appreciate that this happened… and is happening again!
Meant to mention this last week, but if you have a young person in your life who’s into history or graphic novels or just good books, buy them George Takei’s “They Called Us Enemy.” My oldest couldn’t put it down.

BREAKING: In a unanimous decision, a federal court of appeals has ruled that Louisiana's law requiring the Ten Commandments to be displayed in all public school classrooms is unconstitutional.

We’ll keep saying it: Public schools are not Sunday schools.

A customer told me she couldn't believe this store would put up a Pride display, because what if children see it??

Anyway, it was my display, and I'm proud of it, and you (and your children) should all see it. #BookSky 📚💙

just ridiculous
No one experiencing the tragedy of a miscarriage should be arrested, much less abandoned in jail for 5 months with a $100k bond. But that’s exactly what happened to Mallori Patrice Strait in Texas. Women, particularly women of color, in this country are no longer allowed dignity even in extreme loss

Booker: Do you think we got the right to vote for women because a bunch of men on the House floor got together and said “on the count of three, women get the right to vote..” That’s not how it happened… Change doesn’t come from Washington. It comes to Washington.

let’s root out all that waste… smh
So we could lose $200B in tourism, $100B in immigrants paying taxes, $100B in weapons manufacturing, $500B in lost tax revenue from firing IRS employees… is it sinking in yet?
International tourism is worth $200 billion every year to the US economy.

The Alien Enemies Act that Trump has invoked for mass deportations was part of the World War II legal rationale for mass internments in the U.S. of people of German, Italian and Japanese ancestry.

Around 120,000 people with Japanese heritage were incarcerated.

A Russian scientist who opposed Putin’s war and is currently working at Harvard has been detained by U.S. immigration authorities and is now being held in a Louisiana detention center, facing possible deportation to Russia.
