The largest ever study of screen time's effects on children's cognition and wellbeing found the hysteria entirely unfounded. The only cohort who appear to have been cognitively impaired by screen time are the hectoring pundits now scaring parents for cash.

OII | No evidence screen time is negative for children’s cognitive development and well-being: Oxford Study
In a study of nearly 12,000 children in the United States, no evidence was found to show that screen time impacted their brain function or well-being.

Dublin is tough to navigate for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers alike.

Frustration leads to mistakes, but a judge brandishing all cyclists as “a nightmare” is outrageous.

Safer streets need patience, respect, and shared responsibility from everyone.

Hundreds of thousands of vile sexualised non-consensual images of women and children have been created by Grok, X’s AI tool.

This isn't just horrifying – it's illegal.

The Govt response to this has been muted and confusing.

When will X be prosecuted?

Under the plans, some staff may have to attend the Dublin HQ instead of its regional offices.

Section 5(1)(f) of the Child Trafficking and Pornography Act 1998 (as amended) makes it a criminal offence to knowingly facilitate the production or distribution of sexualised images of children. The problem here isn't the law - it's the political willingnesss to enforce it against X.
My word. (Again.)

Media Minister Patrick O'Donovan: "At the end of the day, it's the choice of a person to make these images... technology is moving so fast... even if the law is changed there's no doubt about... the advances are far faster than law is able to respond..."

Grok's issue is far, far worse than "put a bikini on her." There are huge groups of people on Telegram making it do far worse, then sharing how they did it. It truly is a nonconsensual sexual abuse material machine:

Putting people in bikinis is just the tip of the iceberg. On Telegram, users are finding ways to make Grok do far worse.

After 10+ years of people fighting against it, this government is pushing through this dystopian CETA legislation.

Corporations can and will sue the state for interfering with their profits - for example increasing the minimum wage, against fracking bans, etc.

This is incredibly undemocratic.

If you or I put a private sewer discharging waste into one of our rivers or lakes, there'd be total *hell* to pay.

But a whole industry doesn't just get away with constantly polluting, the government makes a priority of fighting for their right to continue.

The result is our rivers are dying.
Excellent article from @elainemcgoff.bsky.social on the many, many failures that have led us to where we are.

Nobody asked the people of this country if we were willing to sacrifice our waterways so the dairy industry could wallow in profits

Most Irish people want clean water, not a nitrates derogation
Has the Government ever asked the people of Ireland if they agree with pulling on the green jersey to convince Europe to give us another derogation?
