Also if you don't like "USians" then you can have a revolution where you give the country a new name that would have a new and better demonym, like L'Ouverture and Lenin and Sankara did. That would be a cool option!
Free paper idea: trans nostalgia both mapped to real & fictional geography. You can call it something like "Where We Can Be Free: Trans Identity Formation & Nostalgia in Real & Virtual Spaces" or some bullshit like that.

On average, Americans held onto their phones 7 months longer, from 22 to 29 months, over the past 11 years. 7 months for phones that use immensely destructive & deadly sourcing & mining operations that feel appropriate to your average EIC post.

Seems to largely depend on whether AI also takes over those campuses & whether the Ivies can retain any independence from Trump or survive the fallout from his policies.
Personally, I'm a pessimist! US higher ed is a rotting hovel of cowards, capitalists, & rape-apologists, so my hopes are dim!
My hot take is that over the next 10 years, we're going to see more emphasis on and investment in the humanities at Ivy League and other fancy schools just as state schools and small privates continue to decimate and even eliminate the humanities.
"While other universities report that the humanities are shrinking, at Berkeley, the opposite is true. The music major is the fastest-growing major on campus. We are finding bigger classrooms because film is exploding. English is back to the numbers we saw 15 years ago. We are hiring" bit.ly/4ohKuOe

Black trans women are paid dust by cis people and trans people. 21 is too young for a trans girl to die. It's not fucking fair. But per the course, Girlalala will be lost in a sea of stories of trans women of color who aren't as loved or as protected as we should be.

Every once in awhile, you hear a song on the radio & recall that our entire culture for the past 50+ years has unconditionally accepted that rape & pedophilia are a-OK as long as they're done "the right way," & that these assumptions go much, much farther back. Here we are now, feminism or death!

Got my crowdfunded The Damned in the mail a few weeks ago, & these revolutionaries are coming along nicely! WGA stuff kitbashes extremely well with North Star kits, so lots of Frost/Stargrave bits mixed in with the Grognard shakos & grenadier bearskins. Also, some various (& often old) Chaos bits!

Alright, I'm at 300 more battles before getting the Shiny Charm. Legends ZA is fun, but the battle system is plagued by bad pathing, strange timing, & uncertainty in the UI as to how the speed stat affects anything. An interesting step forward, improving over Arceus, but still needs more work.

A Catholic hospital gave me a cute little run-around for the better part of a year while I tried to refill my HRT prescriptions. Trans patients should be able to sue; it's discrimination, these hospitals know it, & they know they can hide behind a bible to get away with it.
Many people dismissed the announcement Catholic hospitals will ban gender-affirming care nationwide under the assumption that there will be other options. In reality, Catholic hospitals make up as much 46% of options in some states. This map is 2020, prior to Trump’s assault on safety net hospitals.

One of the most important lessons you have to learn about what a university "is" is a very vulgar marxist distinction between its *managers* (directly or indirectly appointed by capital and/or state government) and its *labor,* who come to the university out of love and idealism.

So YT links in Google searches are now listing the video by title but using an entirely different (albeit tangentially related) video's thumbnail in the search results. Fun, I guess.

A good thing is a good thing but I wish they would happen in much worse, more public, more pain-filled ways. Feels like a lost opportunity for any justice thicker than the grave's.

Realizing, after some years of trying to figure out why they just hold no grip on my life at all despite being a focal point for at least two decades, that I really just like to *learn* about sports, not actually watch them or talk about them.

When we look at this massacre and many more perpetrated by the RSF, let's be clear who funds, equips & sustains them. It's the UAE. Yes, the same UAE that might own your football club, fly you on your holidays, invests in our national infrastructure. If boycotts work, we should be boycotting now.
“Individuals on the ground sent a message that reached us Monday morning that 1,200 were dead,” Nathaniel Raymond, the lab’s executive director, said. “By that evening, they said 10,000. By Tuesday, we couldn’t reach them anymore. We assume our ground contacts are dead.”

I don't think most people understand that Trump could leave office tomorrow & US higher ed is still dead. It's completely broken beyond repair, & most Americans seem to give less than two shits - & *that* is a fundamental issue that won't go away without seismic shifts in US civic life.
