It’s not just what we build. It’s how we build.

We’re building major projects sustainably, in partnership with Indigenous peoples, in solidarity with union workers, and we are building Canadian – with Canadian materials and technology.

Needed to do some hemming so I took out my inherited Singer sewing machine. I wanted some tea while I sewed so I put out my moon teapot. The singer work light no longer works so I got my "lamp cat" for setting up. Suddenly I felt very Studio Ghibili ☺️

Dinosaur Mummies Are Clay Molds, Not Soft-Tissue Fossils, New Study Reveals
Wyoming’s “dinosaur mummies,” once thought to preserve fossilized flesh, are actually detailed clay molds formed by microbes as the creatures decayed

So this #Dinosaur #Edmontosaurus, "Warwick's Duck", has an "extreme degree of lesions and fractures in the neural spines of the vertebrae", caused "by an external pressing force acting vertically to diagonally" with different "pathological events". My take on what happened... 🧵1/2

White, as a group of people, is fabricated and is only real in how it is a social concept. For example, those who were Irish or Polish were previously not considered white. A great breakdown of this is "Birth of a White Nation" its opening lines are, "White people did not exist before 1681" #History

#PricklyPear seeds finished #ColdStratifying in the fridge so I planted them in my spare #bonsai pots (black pot=3, circular pots=4 ea., tiny pot=1) #Germination requires 22°C but my house is 20°C in the winter months, so likely keeping these pots moist and will see nothing until spring, unless 🧵1/2

This is really fascinating! Such different physical ability but the Same Species!
🧠🌟🐭 Excited to share some of my postdoc work on the evolution of dexterity!

We compared deer mice evolved in forest vs prairie habitats. We found that forest mice have:
(1) more corticospinal neurons (CSNs)
(2) better hand dexterity
(3) more dexterous climbing, which is linked to CSN number🧵

Planted #cactus seeds yesterday, in #NorthernOntario, #Canada. Its a #Native that can grow in zone 4-9, *Opuntia* *humifusa*, Eastern Prickly Pear! 36 are in the #Garden bed with blueberry seeds, and 12 in the fridge - will plant in bonsai pots, and in spring transplant to fill gaps. 1/3🧵

There is a reason why Farm Owners heavily backed Trump. This reason is not limited to the USA and you see the same reasons where ever there are Big Ag Corps that are farmer owned and operated; which are easier to see in Canada when you look at the election maps - Blue Rural regions 🧵1/3 #Agriculture

I have seen a lot of justifying of having invasive species. Migrating birds eating from it is not enough, and is in fact worse because they are spreading it and exasperating the problem. Read the attached image for why 👇 #Ecology #Wildlife #Gardening #Ecosystem #Environment #Garden #PlantNative
