Unions, Workers, Musicology, Humanities, Baseball- will flirt shamelessly with dogs and babies. Libraries are my palace.
So we are closing in on the year end and it’s time for a reminder : this sene of malaise - the soup of disparity that makes one loose home and knife their allies is by design. It’s all sexist, racist, classist and made to demoralize. The hope is in the doing. The standing up matters.

This is enrollment season- University administration touts their accomplishments- enrollment and retention as a sign of a successful institution makes my skin crawl. Students in internships? Faculty writing and creativity? Student innovation and activity ? Enrollment is but a number.

Those northern counties - some are light red now….. keep working, don’t loose hope
This morning's tallies--with more than 95% of the votes counted--show Crawford winning by double digits. That's about as decisive as it gets in a purple state.

Call it what it is - union busting.

@booker.senate.gov As a union maid, an academic, and a hopeless optimist caught in a pragmatic mind- I wish I could vote for you, sir, you have my deepest respect and admiration .

Bring this energy to the function loves - turn those planes around.
🚨BREAKING: Federal Court GRANTS motion to HALT deportation under rarely invoked Alien Enemies Act of 1798. “A TRO is appropriate for the class members to prevent the removal of the class.”

WOW. Planes in air must turn around.

A huge win @democracyforward.org and @aclu.org.

The strangest part of this for me is that liberal/progressive/leftists are less likely to be hurt by this - most of us have been avoiding big business purchases for years. I have voluntarily paid more or bought used for more than a decade to avoid not buying American. Why? Because of unionism.

I know I’m asking for a lot but give me one tech company that’s ok not meddling in AI or VR too much. Some of us don’t think the risk is worth the short time gain. Unless you forefront robust ethical controls I’m gonna pass.

And no one wanted to focus or spend too much political capital on net neutrality 😒

One of the many tragedies of the fire - such an immovable artistic force in the waning days of Weimar…university music education was markedly changed by this man’s compositional techniques.

Reporting something as an even likelihood as the chance of rain in two hours or a wreck on the Dan Ryan (both of which are easily confirmable) as if this might actually happen …. I swear to all I can that they should publish a statistical analysis of likelihood with this click bait shit
CNN is hopelessly broken.

1. This "expansion" would require military invasions of several allies in violation of international law.
2. It would violate several treaties.
3. The Louisiana Purchase was the sale of land by a colonial power (France). These are sovereign nations.

And this is where culture is supposed to be …. Snoop Dog at the Olympics and Violent Femmes on PBS. I still weep that John Prine didn’t get to see this. Great Art survives and always comes to the forefront.
PBS.
Has the Violent Femmes.
Playing with a full orchestra.

PBS has the Violent Femmes playing with a full orchestra.

That is a sentence that would make absolutely no sense to 20 year old me.

The WEP/GPO (which meant you didn’t get your full SS benefits despite having paid in) is now a thing of the past. I can promise you no state University or College Professor was getting “windfall”.

The degree to which the murder of United Health Care’s CEO reminds us that if we, as Americans, hate someone enough vigilante acts are applauded is not surprising. This is why “rule of law” is a construct at best.
