at Polygon, someone once floated the idea that one person would research a video, then pass that work off to someone else to write. And I was like No?? The research is the writing?

Like, the writing originates in ideas that are develop through research. So what the fuck does this even mean??
The thing that makes me insane about this and Vincke’s comments is why would you trust AI to make a reference? They’re notoriously bad at doing that and produce banal results! Go buy some art books, they’re great. How is it empowering concept artists to have them not do that?

The OpenAI employee share sale at the BS $500bn number is now up to $10.3 billion. This is a cashout. This is the thing you do when you do not see a future for the company.

What I call Serfdom of the Self is when our identities, attention, and even emotions become dependent on digital systems we don’t control. We hand over more of our inner lives to these systems, and in return they decide the conditions of our existence.

I think it’s a very real possibility that Cursor, the only successful AI software as a service company, might die. They had to make massive product changes to deal with their costs, and most of their Subreddit is people saying they’re cancelling their subs.

I think there are many problems in media that can be traced back to a death or drought of sincerity in mass media, a fear of discussing love or solidarity, or unabashedly loving your friends. It’s “vulnerable” if you talk about feeling bad or sad. Doesn’t feel vulnerable to me, I feel stronger now
