Following up on SDF icons in #unity3d, @halisavakis.com has a great blog post about authoring them in Photoshop:

I would like to add to this that Photoshop now uses a different method for gradients by default (Smooth) and you should set the Method to Classic.

I would like to add to this that Photoshop now uses a different method for gradients by default (Smooth) and you should set the Method to Classic.

PSA: If you want to render an SDF texture using an Image component and Text Mesh Pro, you can!
You need to copy the SDF shader and make two small tweaks, which I've explained in a blog post here:

Just finished Herdling! Wonderful game, really feels like a perilous journey with ups and downs. Thoroughly enjoyed it, can highly recommend picking it up!

I once joked that in game dev it's easier to make a giant dragon spread out its wings and fly off than it is to crumple a piece of paper.
