As dusk falls, the column of ash above Mount St. Helens begins to shrink. Ash hangs in the air. Mud chokes the valleys. Helicopters return one by one—low on fuel, coated in dust.
Rescuers have pulled out the living. Others they could not reach.
The sky darkens.

After the blast, walls of volcanic mud surged down the Toutle—hot, fast, and unstoppable.
Helicopter crews watched bridges snap, trucks vanish, and a valley drown in sludge.
“It looked like chocolate milk,” one said. But it moved like a freight train.

Hueys from the Air Force Reserve & National Guard flew blind into ash and ruin.
They found flattened forests, dead silence, and—miraculously—survivors.

Majorana 1. Google it. There's some hype, but it seems to be a breakthrough in computing hardware. People I've followed for years are in a tizzy about it all. It's beyond me, but I'm encouraged that we (all of us, together) are continuing to invent new new new things. #hope #tech #peace #kindness
