The federal government is ready to slash public service jobs at a rate not seen in decades when we should be reinforcing its ranks to tackle this economic crisis.
Public Sector Job Cuts Undermine the Federal Government’s Commitment to Canadians | Perspectives Journal
There are easy solutions for the government to both raise revenue and rein in spending in a way that is fair and beneficial for Canadians, and that doesn’t compromise services.

This is guy is good at explaining the problem of dangerous car bloat.
🤔 Are Cybertrucks as ridiculous and as unsafe (for pedestrians) as they look? Is an electric Hummer really better for the environment?

Incredible how little rain Moncton has had this summer - only about 41% of the historical average. Looking further back, the spring we thought was so rainy because it all came on the weekends was also significantly drier than average. Same in winter. One of the driest years on record since 1900.

#Halifax council isn’t perfect—who is?!—but there are solid voices speaking out, including Janet Steele. Removing the bridge tolls, making parking free at hospitals, not promoting working from home all add to congestion. That’s Premier Tim Houston’s doing, not bike lanes.
Steele said this issue is like Trump with tariffs and his flip-flopping.

Is it congestion? Is it cost? She stresses that Houston shouldn’t have removed bridge tolls, allowing civil servants to work from home, the BS with parking at hospitals.

“I don’t know how bullying comes into this.”

European cars may be too small to safely share road space with our current oversized vehicles, but it's totally safe for cyclists and pedestrians. Only the safety of the people inside the car matters. www.theglobeandmail.com/drive/cultur...
Supersized American cars shouldn’t be a barrier to Canadians getting some great European options
If North American vehicles are considered too gigantic and heavy to safely share the road with reasonably sized European ones, the correct solution isn’t to forgo European-approved cars

As a society, we should build infrastructure that is so safe helmets are not a requirement
As an individual, you should always wear a helmet because it’s better than not wearing a helmet. As a society, it’s better to not require helmets because all-cause mortality drops when more people use bikes.

Tip to those in leadership positions: If someone comes asking for you to do more to protect/help themselves, their kids, vulnerable or marginalized residents, don’t tell them what you’ve already done, just listen to what they’re asking for.

"People don't have scurvy in the 21st century because they need to eat more oranges, but because they need decent paying jobs, affordable housing, reasonably priced food and better income redistribution.
... we've become inured to rampant inequity, which is a modern scourge as deadly as scurvy."
