Door opens on Bespin. Vader stands at the end of the table, a "you are safe with me" pin prominently displayed on his lapel.

Vera (space pilot) has a very good sense of direction. In a more "civilized" territory like the Aetherian Combine, hyperspace travel is more standardized and easier to navigate but in the Frontier where she's from, not so much. You have to really know what you're doing to travel across star systems.

How is your character's sense of direction?

Are they good with reading a map, a compass, a sextant? Navigating a city, the ocean, space, or the wilderness?

Is this something that comes up on their story?

Bits and pieces of other people (and myself) end up in my characters; not on purpose but incidentally. Usually I only notice the similarities after I've started really developing a character and I'm like ...woops.
How much of your characters comes from real people versus your imagination? I use a little bit from real people, but I’ve never been able to use their entire identities #writingq #WritingCommunity

Last few lines. But still.

The Aetheri (Alaric's species, I promise I'll talk about a different character eventually) prefer to communicate telepathically, since they can. They even have their own magi-tech that lets them do it over distances.

Does your character speak English? Or another real language?

Do they speak a fictional language transcribed as another for the sake of the reader?

Are language barriers ever a problem in the story?

Alaric has a pretty tragic relationship with family. His mother was a general in the Internal Stabilization Corps (same enforcement agency he joined) and died during the Combine's failed attempt at annexing a Frontier world. His father is distant, consumed with his career as a Combine bureaucrat.
Good mornevening, #DecemberWorldbuilders! Tell me about your villain's relationship with their family. If you don't have a villain, pick another character who is either antagonistic or maybe just a foil for the MC. Does their villainy get in the way of having a family?

Alaric Whitlock, my space cop antagonist POV character, definitely does some physical combat training with his superior officer (who is also his lover). Given that he's very much into his career (and his lover), I would say he enjoys it.

Does your character do any physical activities for fun?

Maybe running, dance, gymnastics, or other sports?

How skilled are they?

Or is that sort of thing not something they can/wish to do?

I've got my book 1 outlined chapter by chapter and the bigger plot point ideas across my planned trilogy mapped out but I will blow it all up for these characters.

Would you alter something about your character to make a moment happen?

If a part of your plot doesn't fit your character, do you change the character or the plot?

Or find a different way to work around it?
