IMO, the most revealing part is Klein wrestling with the question of where "the line" is (between acceptable and unacceptable politics). Realizing that what he considered past the line is now the GOP mainstream doesn't make him commit harder to fighting it. He wonders if he needs to move the line.

Also, from a culpability perspective, it’s wild to see how the right employs sin and wrong as completely individual when done by a member of their party, but sees sin and wrong as universal and identity-based when done by the opposing faction. Therefore there’s no “reform” bc it’s a personal issue.
