A relief sculpture of a blacksmith at work in his workshop. He’s surrounded by the tools of his trade. It was found in Tomb 29 at the Necropolis of Portus on the Isola Sacra. AD 160-180.

Want to help save a mosaic? (Not Roman but we won't hold it against them). Now's your chance. There are 3 ways:

1. Share.
2. Donate.
3. Share and donate.

Go on. You know you want to.
A stunning piece of Chorlton’s history has just been uncovered but it’s preservation is under threat.
Thanks to developers Cube Homes, demolition has been paused. Now we have a rare chance to rescue and restore this heritage gem. www.gofundme.com/f/save-part-...

For this #MosaicMonday, something simple, effective - and, perhaps surprisingly, very unusual. A leafy detail from the mosaic found in Olga Road, Dorchester, now in the Victorian Hall of the excellent @dorsetmuseum.bsky.social.

Anglo Saxon hearth deities Cofgodas are mostly benign creatures - provided you feed them - who like to help with household chores, usually during the night. However, if you upset them, they will leave forever ...

(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

…we’d be much wealthier, with more investment in public services, better trade - and with our parliament & govt having spent the last decade doing far more productive things.

Why is there a witch hunt against Rachel Reeves?

Rishi Sunak who was also Chancellor literally made his fortune in the financial crash at everyone's expense 🤷‍♂️

Inflating small indiscretions beyond all measure of proportion, that's toxic

Is this really the type of society we want to live in?

An Attic (Greece) Geometric bowl with a leg-shaped handle, dating around 850 BC.
The Geometric period lasted from ca. 900 to 700 BC. It's named after geometric patterns and motifs used to decorate pottery vessels.
