Back when I was a lad, my grandfather would listen to ballgames on the radio. Now I watch play by play updates on Yahoo Sports. Improvement? No, probably not. But it's okay.

I loved motels, still do. The plastic wrapped glasses, sanitized for your protection. The mystery of them--who'd slept in this bed before me? Criminals on the lam, new lovers? My dad taught me to swim in motel pools. Our dysfunctional family actually got along.

We don't, there will be a new (and hopefully better) normal after this, that said, for the rest of our lives we'll have to be aware a non-trivial number of neighbors and fellows voted for actual fascism, and that's always going to be a bummer
