There’s no holiday from type 1 diabetes (T1D). The constant management can take a real toll on mental health.

We have been looking at how to best detect and support mental health difficulties in people living with T1D.

I wrote a blog post that breaks it down in an easy read 📝
Type 1 diabetes is often called a 24/7 condition – it demands constant management

Our researchers are investigating how people with type 1 diabetes experience mental health difficulties, which ones, and their severity. Read @jenibaykoca.bsky.social on new findings:

Would you ever donate one of your kidneys if you didn't know the person? 🫘

New research by Hannah Maple, Prof Joe Chilcot, and Prof @samjnorton.bsky.social in @amjtransplant.bsky.social studied the motivations and outcomes of people who donate to family vs strangers.

Kidney donors who give to strangers do just as well as those who give to loved ones
There are no differences in motivation, feelings of regret or outcomes between kidney donors who know the recipient and those who do not

New interview on the value of exploratory research.

"My brief explanation of this crisis is that researchers didn't say ‘I found something interesting’, but ‘I found exactly what my fantastic theory had predicted, heureka’.
And then they gave a TED talk."
