You know, I'm not sure I ever really read the Pond Rules at our local nature preserve all that closely before

I saw a lady up here who had a blanket, a thermos, and a book. Absolute cosy genius.

My October reads! Didn’t stick to pure horror like I thought I would, but I enjoyed all of them. Aside from Circe which was incredible as a given, Hekla’s Children surprised me the most, and Queen Demon and the Curse Bearer series were such cosy comfort reads.

Halloween hike! October's gone by so fast... feels a bit like it hasn't even gotten properly spooky yet 🎃🎃🎃

Currently reading Queen Demon by Martha Wells (on launch day!!) bc Witch King was Epic and cosy and made me want to be in the chaotic gay soul sucking demon witch rebel faction friend group so bad

I’m a new Darcy Coates convert. Gallows Hill and From Below absolutely sold me on her as a horror writer! (I also read Hunted which I didn’t really vibe with as much, but I’m still so excited about the rest of her catalogue!)

I’m back at The Pit™️, now kind of pretty in full algal bloom! so much unexpected travel this year, but with the perk of revisiting familiar places.

The term ‘woke’ has been weaponised as being a bad thing. Yet woke merely means ‘being compassionate’, ‘having awareness of others’ needs’, and ‘a willingness to think beyond our own self interest.’ If anyone said increasing those behaviours was a danger they’d be laughed at. Stay woke, my friends 😊

Book haul! The instant I decided to buy some off my reading list, a book I’d had on hold at the library for agesss went ‘ready for pickup’ 😂

The bees were REALLY into this goldenrod though lol

From yesterday’s rounds: plump milkweed pods and strikingly yellow goldenrod (which the bees were ecstatic about!) It’d just rained and was so humid it felt like I was trekking through the amazon rainforest

The surprisingly autumn-like weather has made me want to make some snert! (not a typo, just dutch lol)
