The hardest part about moving away from DC this summer was missing the Spirit community. I’m so happy that I was able to make the long drive back to catch this semifinal match victory. Soo much joy 💛

Even though individual students come and go, they represent the voices of the student body as a whole, present and future. They need to be able to vote! (My tiny college was gerrymandered into three different legislative districts to limit student impact but that’s another issue…)

Sex testing is officially back in sports -- which is a huge bummer and also contradicts so much ethics, human rights law, and actual science. More on all that (and the history) on my podcast Tested: www.tested-podcast.com

How have you been impacted by the changes we've seen under the current administration? What would you want to say to those in charge?

I'm launching a new research initiative to collect and share anonymous stories of the human toll. And I'd be very grateful for your help.

And just like that, over a year of work from our team is out in the world! Our latest @pewresearch.org data essay, part of the Pew-Knight Initiative, explores how Americans decide what "news" means to them – and how it fits into their lives in the digital era.

What Is News?
As people are exposed to more information from more sources than ever before, how they define and feel about “news” has become less clear-cut. Pew Research Center.

Welp, here it is. World Athletics is going back to mandatory sex testing for all women. This is something that was done for years, but abandoned in the 1990's because it was invasive, discriminatory, and also useless. news.sky.com/story/bluesk...
World Athletics to introduce mandatory sex testing for female competitions
Sebastian Coe, president of World Athletics, says the governing body feels the mandatory tests for athletes are "a really important way of providing confidence".

Really enjoyed getting to help work on this project. For my comm friends, this report is full of rich data from a probability sample of LLM users that you may find useful for your work!
LLMs show a bunch of personality traits, according to users. They range from acting like a good work colleague to showing negative emotions like sarcasm, sadness and brusqueness.

The horrifying history — yeah, sex testing in sports was started by literal Nazis
This would be a disaster for women's sports. Sex testing has a horrifying history while never once catching someone lying about their sex.

The SAVE Act is systemic misogyny. It would disenfranchise tens of millions of women--those who changed their name after marriage but don't have either a birth certificate or a passport with their new legal name.

The House of Representatives is considering a bill that will lead to voter purges and widespread disenfranchisement of eligible voters.

The SAVE Act stems from baseless claims of voter fraud and is part of a strategic, well-financed effort to suppress voting.
The SAVE Act Would Disenfranchise Millions of Citizens
The SAVE Act would require all Americans to prove their citizenship with documentation unavailable to millions and upend the way every American citizen registers to vote.
