Uncharismatic Megafauna
@robrtdavsn.bsky.social
A wildlife ecology PhD who found his way over the years into universities, NGOs, the US Senate, the Interior Department and back out again.
A good caution. Still, I don't think it likely that he's bullshitting Maxwell in his emails to her.

This should be mandatory reading for every American. Or at least every high school student.

Thank you!

The status quo then is the majority party's rhetoric about the inviolability of the filibuster rule has not matched their actions? As you note, the Senate GOP twice this year has created exceptions to override. Are their instances of the Dems doing the same with legislative filibusters?
November 13, 2025 at 5:25 PM
I agree. At that point, however, I think the legislative filibuster only continues to exist in cases in which the majority party isn't interested in defining a narrow set of circumstances to rationalize overriding the 60-vote requirement. I'd rather see the filibuster gone entirely.

Agreed!

Shocked. Shocked.

If we're going to have the opposition party we need with the stomach to fight a tyrant destroying our democracy, there are more than 20 Democratic Senators I'd go after before Sen. Whitehouse. Read his entire thread. He didn't say vote blue no matter what or that we should STFU.

Meh, needs a lot more paintings.
November 11, 2025 at 1:00 AM
Yes. And we're all supposed to pretend that this show-vote is anything more than theater.
November 10, 2025 at 6:39 PM
So true. If you think standing up to Trump didn't work, Senator, wait till you see how capitulation works.
November 10, 2025 at 6:37 PM
Yes. Just takes 24 of the Dem caucus to pick a leader with the stomach to fight the White House tyrant.
November 10, 2025 at 5:38 PM
Resign now, Senator. In case you hadn't noticed, the Senate has worked like you think for at least 15-20 years. Let Gov. Pritzker appoint someone with the stomach to fight the tyrant in the White House.
November 10, 2025 at 5:34 PM
Resign now, Sen. King, or just join the GOP. Either way, get out.
November 10, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Eight Democrats gave cover to probably half the Dem caucus that has no stomach for fighting a tyrant.
November 10, 2025 at 5:24 PM
The opposition party in the Senate consists of fewer than 40 Democratic Senators. Still, that's plenty to change leaders. Interested?
November 10, 2025 at 5:22 PM
Well, no, as a practical matter this is what happened. A promised Senate vote means nothing. There’s no guarantee Republicans will support extending the Obamacare subsidies and Speaker Johnson has already said he won’t even bring a fix to the floor.
November 10, 2025 at 5:02 PM
Yes they’re the ones responsible AND caving to a tyrant was wrong and gave him greater power to dismantle our democracy.
November 10, 2025 at 3:37 PM
Thank you.
