So many folks think that big studios are moving to Unreal because Unreal is filled with amazing features.

And those features are nice, yeah. But that’s reason #2

Reason #1 is that there is a huge Unreal community. Because this results in two important things:
1. Easy hiring
2. Problem solving.

There's a relatively untapped mine of sublime vibes in OG Xbox demo discs.

Every one I've tried over the last few years has had banger tuneage, sometimes hidden away in the demos section of Microsoft Games Studio games too.

If you think a game runs poorly because it's using Unreal Engine, that's not why.

Laziness, lack of time, lack of knowledge, or a combination of those things are why. The optimization tools / strategies available are insanely good. Epic devs did their part, I promise.

E3 2017 was my first. It was something I dreamt about going to since I was a kid. I'd been waiting for over 20 years, and I can't describe the feeling of walking those sparsely populated halls the day before it opened. It was like holy ground for me. Miss you, E3.

You're not a real solo dev if you're using third party tools made by other people. This includes IDEs and APIs.
